Jammu, Jan 6:
In a major push to revitalize the Union Territory’s tourism sector, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today unveiled the 2026 Official Calendars for the Tourism Department and the J&K Cable Car Corporation (JKCCC).
Speaking at the Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister characterized the new publications not just as date-keepers, but as “visual narratives” of the region’s unmatched natural beauty and its rapidly evolving infrastructure.
A centerpiece of today’s event was the launch of the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir’s official website. The portal is designed as a sophisticated “single-window” platform to streamline the experience for both international tourists and local stakeholders.
Key Features of the New Website: Access to historical and promotional media of J&K destinations, Direct links to JKTDC (Tourism Development Corp), JKCCC, and Jammu Tourism, Real-time updates on upcoming festivals, exhibitions, and seasonal events and A dynamic, user-friendly design optimized for global outreach.
Furthering his commitment to youth development and adventure tourism, CM Abdullah inaugurated the Integrated Skiing Course for the 2026 winter season.
“A modern, dynamic digital presence is crucial for effective outreach,” the Chief Minister remarked. “This platform will serve as a comprehensive guide, ensuring that the story of Jammu and Kashmir’s hospitality reaches every corner of the world.”
The high-profile launch saw attendance from top administration officials, signaling a unified government approach to the 2026 tourism season: Nasir Aslam Wani (Advisor to CM), Atal Dulloo (Chief Secretary), Ashish Chandra Verma (ACS Tourism), Syed Qamar Sajad (Director Tourism Kashmir & MD JKCCC) and Shreya Singhal (MD JKTDC).
The move is seen as a strategic effort to position Kashmir as a premier global skiing destination while ensuring that the infrastructure—such as the iconic Gulmarg Gondola—is highlighted through official JKCCC channels.
