Jammu, January 3:
In a major review of its performance for the year 2025, the District Police Jammu has recorded a series of decisive victories in its ongoing “War on Drugs.” Through a combination of high-stakes enforcement, financial dismantling of syndicates, and community-focused rehabilitation, the department has reinforced its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.
The Numbers: Arrests and Seizures
The scale of operations in 2025 reflects a significantly intensified crackdown compared to previous years.
-
Total Cases: 204 FIRs registered under the NDPS Act.
-
Arrests: 311 individuals apprehended, notably including 35 women drug peddlers.
-
Heroin (Chitta) Focus: 207 of the total arrests were specifically linked to heroin trafficking, highlighting the police’s focus on the most dangerous synthetic drugs.
-
Vehicle Seizures: 71 vehicles used for transporting contraband were impounded.
Major Recoveries: Heroin Worth ₹60 Crores Seized
One of the most staggering highlights of the 2025 report is the volume of narcotics prevented from hitting the streets.
-
Heroin: Over 15 kg seized, with an estimated international market value of ₹60 Crores.
-
Other Contraband: 78 kg Ganja, 114 kg Poppy Straw, and significant quantities of opium and psychotropic capsules.
Jammu Police moved beyond simple arrests to target the wealth generated by illegal trade. In a series of financial investigations:
-
Property Attachment: Immovable properties worth over ₹85.7 Lakh and movable assets worth ₹11.4 Lakh were attached as “proceeds of crime.”
-
Demolition Drive: 23 illegal structures linked to drug trafficking were demolished, effectively clearing out identified “drug hotspots” within the district.
The police didn’t just stop at local peddlers. Detailed “supply-chain” investigations led to 12 FIRs and 36 arrests spanning across multiple regions including Punjab, Kathua, Udhampur, and Rajouri.
This meticulous approach resulted in 48 convictions in 2025, proving that the legal cases built by the department are holding up in court.
Rehabilitation and Awareness
Parallel to enforcement, the Police Drug De-addiction & Rehabilitation Centre in Channi, Jammu, played a pivotal role in 2025:
-
Patient Care: The centre treated 1,667 OPD patients and admitted 311 patients for intensive recovery.
-
Community Outreach: Over 1,000 awareness events, including Thana Diwas and PCPG meetings, were held to educate the youth and their families.
Destruction of Seized Drugs
Under Section 52-A of the NDPS Act, a massive quantity of previously seized drugs was destroyed to prevent any misuse. This included over 5,293 kg of Poppy Straw and thousands of psychotropic bottles and tablets.
Public Appeal: Jammu Police continues to urge citizens to join the fight. If you have information regarding drug abuse or peddling, call the Helpline 100. Your identity will remain strictly confidential.
