Traveling by rail in the Jammu Division is set to become more structured from the first day of 2026. Northern Railway has officially announced a comprehensive revision of its train timetable, effective from January 1, 2026.
The update affects approximately 33 trains operating across major hubs, including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Jammu Tawi, Pathankot, and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur) station.
According to the railway administration, the revision is not merely a routine update but a strategic move to: Infrastructure improvements now allow for higher sectional speeds, reducing overall travel time. By reviewing existing speed restrictions and operational constraints, the railways aim to ensure trains run on time. The new timings are designed to improve the synchronization between connecting trains for a seamless passenger experience.

Shri Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM), Jammu Division, emphasized that these changes are part of a larger commitment to passenger convenience
“The timetable revision reflects our efforts to provide a faster and more efficient rail travel experience. We have focused on saving travel time and improving connectivity based on public demand and technical reviews,” Singhal stated.
