Jammu, Dec 29:

In a major boost to rural education infrastructure, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has announced the successful renovation and handover of ten government schools in the Reasi and Udhampur districts. This achievement is part of a larger flagship Social Support Initiative involving 15 institutions, launched under the direct vision of Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Chairman of SMVDSB (Lt. Governor, J&K).

The initiative was triggered by a rigorous assessment of rural schools that had suffered significant structural damage due to adverse weather conditions. The Board prioritized institutions where the lack of proper classrooms and boundary walls posed a risk to students’ safety and learning.

The renovation was not just aesthetic but focused on structural integrity and hygiene. The scope of work included: Waterproofing of roofs, new plastering, and floor tiling. Full electrification of classrooms and replacement of damaged doors and windows. A special emphasis on upgrading toilets and handwashing stations to ensure a safe, hygienic environment for girl students and staff.

List of Newly Renovated Schools: High School: Sirla Bhaga. Middle Schools: Chack Bhagtha, Panthal, Parthal, Manoon, and Kun Kanyala. Primary Schools: Hansali, Kalara Chanjute, Upper Sirla, Geeta Nagar, Purana Daroor, Chumbra (Reasi), and Dhanno (Udhampur).

Speaking on the completion, Shri Sachin Kumar Vaishya, CEO of SMVDSB, emphasized that the Board’s responsibility extends beyond managing the holy pilgrimage.

“Providing a conducive learning environment is a core part of our social responsibility. By handing over these 10 schools, we are directly impacting the futures of thousands of students. The remaining five schools are on track to be completed before the new academic session begins,” the CEO stated.

To date, the initiative has benefitted over 2,800 students in the region. By modernizing these schools, the Shrine Board is helping bridge the gap between rural and urban educational facilities, ensuring that children in the foothills of the Trikuta Mountains have access to quality infrastructure close to home.

The Board confirmed that the final five schools are currently in the last stages of electrification and painting, with an expected handover by early 2026.
