JAMMU, FEB 06: Jammu and Kashmir BJP Chief Spokesperson Sunil Sethi has asserted that opinion polls in Delhi validate the party’s confidence in securing a majority in the upcoming assembly elections. Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters on Thursday in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, he was accompanied by party spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan and media incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, Sunil Sethi stated that multiple surveys indicate a surge in support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), positioning it ahead of its rivals, particularly the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He claimed that growing public trust in the BJP’s governance and leadership is reflected in the voter sentiment, which he believes will translate into electoral success.
Sethi highlighted that voters are backing the BJP due to its emphasis on infrastructure development, law and order, and welfare initiatives. He said that the polling-day mood further reinforced the likelihood of BJP emerging victorious with a record number of seats. According to him, Delhi’s electorate is seeking a change, disillusioned with AAP’s governance over the past two terms.
“The simple reason why people will defeat AAP is that it has failed to fulfill its poll promises,” Sethi said, alleging that the party misled voters with false assurances. In contrast, he claimed, the BJP has built a reputation for delivering on its commitments, with its cadre actively engaged in public service.
Balbir Ram Rattan also emphasized that the BJP does not engage in vote-bank politics and consistently works to fulfill its pledges. He cited the abrogation of Article 370 as a major commitment that the BJP pursued persistently, ultimately achieving full integration of Jammu and Kashmir under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
He further compared the AAP’s approach to that of the National Conference (NC) in Jammu & Kashmir, alleging that both parties made promises before elections but failed to deliver after assuming office. “The NC has been in power for nearly three months but has not fulfilled any of its commitments, exposing its lack of concern for development and welfare,” he said.
