Tarun Chugh

JAMMU, SEPT 29: BJP National General Secretary and Incharge of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) affairs, Tarun Chugh, asserted that Jammu will lead the next government in J&K, marking a shift in regional politics. During a public address, Chugh emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is committed to ending the longstanding discrimination against the Jammu region.

Chugh criticized the dominance of the Abdullah, Mufti, and Gandhi families, accusing them of neglecting Jammu for decades. He stated that Jammu has been discriminated against by these three families for years, and now, for the first time, Jammu will decide the next government in J&K.

Chugh questioned why, despite J&K’s political history, no Chief Minister has ever hailed from Jammu. He accused the Abdullahs and Muftis of looting J&K and suppressing Jammu’s political aspirations, claiming the three families have always looted J&K and discriminated against Jammu.

Highlighting the ongoing elections in J&K, Chugh claimed that the two-phased polling reflects the public’s rejection of political dynasties. He predicted that Omar Abdullah would lose both seats he is contesting from, stating that the polling in the first two phases is against the Abdullahs, Muftis, and Gandhis.

He pointed out that previous leaders used to secure Chief Ministership with minimal voter turnout, stating that this is the first election without boycotts or violence, and the people have rejected the three families.

Chugh also criticized the Congress party, accusing it of aligning with the National Conference (NC) and surrendering its political agenda. He alleged that the Congress is fully backing NC, which promises to release jailed terrorists and stone pelters, and restore Article 370. Chugh asserted that Article 370 would never return, regardless of political efforts.

He further accused the NC-Congress alliance of insulting Maharaja Hari Singh, stating that Maharaja Hari Singh was not just the ruler of Jammu but of the entire J&K, and insulting him is an insult to the whole country.

On the development front, Chugh outlined BJP’s vision for Jammu, promising several infrastructure projects aimed at boosting tourism and the economy. He said that the BJP will develop a tourism city in Jammu, similar to Gulmarg and Pahalgam, and establish the largest Ayurvedic center in Kishtwar, along with a big airport and a metro system in Jammu. He also highlighted BJP’s contribution of 10 medical colleges, AIIMS, IIM, and IIT to the region.

Chugh affirmed that Jammu’s nationalist spirit, which has welcomed Kashmiri Pandits and refugees from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), would continue to thrive under BJP’s leadership. He concluded by stating that as long as there is one BJP worker, the Tiranga will always flutter in Kashmir.
