SRINAGAR, SEPT 26: Chief Electoral Officer PK Pole on Thursday expressed confidence in a peaceful election in the border areas of north Kashmir, similar to the first two phases of voting. Speaking to reporters in Bandipora, Pole stated that the administration has a contingency plan in place in case of any disruptions.

“We are ready with plan-B if any issues arise in the border areas,” Pole said. He credited the smooth conduct of the initial phases to the cooperation between the public and security forces.

Pole noted the high voter enthusiasm, with people waiting in long queues to cast their votes. “We have set up 312 polling stations in Bandipora district, and all formalities for the October 1 polls are complete,” he added, following his visit to the border areas.

“Our borders are peaceful, and we are hopeful it will stay that way on election day,” he concluded.
