JAMMU, SEPT 24: Bilal Ahmad Kuchay, an accused in the 2019 Lethpora terror attack, passed away due to cardiac arrest at the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu late Monday night, officials said.
Kuchay, son of Ghulam Nabi Kuchay from Pulwama, had been lodged in a jail in Jammu and was reportedly unwell for the past week. An official told that Kuchay was receiving treatment in jail before being transferred to GMC Jammu for further care. He suffered a cardiac arrest on Monday evening and succumbed shortly after.
His brother, Muzaffar, confirmed that Kuchay had been under treatment and passed away on Monday. Kuchay was arrested in 2020 on charges of providing logistical support to the terrorists involved in the 2019 Lethpora suicide attack, which claimed the lives of at least 40 CRPF personnel.
Authorities are conducting further proceedings in connection with Kuchay’s death.
