Jammu, Feb 4:

Security forces achieved a significant success on Wednesday as two unidentified terrorists were killed in an ongoing gunfight in the Majalta area of Udhampur district. The encounter, which erupted yesterday afternoon, is part of a high-stakes joint operation codenamed “Operation Kia.”

The Gunfight in Majalta

The exchange of fire began on Tuesday when joint teams of the Police, 4 Para Special Forces, and the Indian Army established contact with a group of terrorists hiding in the rugged, forested terrain of Majalta.

  • Casualties: Official sources confirmed that two terrorists have been neutralized so far.

  • Current Status: The operation is still underway as security forces continue to comb the area to ensure no other hiding militants remain.

Strategic Cordon and Search

According to officials, the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of a terror group, suspected to be affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Additional reinforcements were rushed to the site yesterday to plug all escape routes, effectively trapping the militants within a tight perimeter.

The White Knight Corps had earlier confirmed that the encounter broke out during a search and cordon exercise (CASO) in the forest area.

Braving the Terrain

The Majalta-Basantgarh belt is known for its dense foliage and challenging topography, which terrorists often use for hideouts. Security agencies have been on high alert across the Jammu division, with similar operations ongoing in the Kishtwar and Rajouri sectors to dismantle the terror ecosystem.

“The joint operation is being executed with high precision. While two terrorists have been eliminated, the area is still under a strict security blanket to complete the final sanitization,” an official source stated.

Further details regarding the identity of the slain terrorists and the recovery of arms and ammunition are awaited as the operation concludes.
