JAMMU, JAN 06: The 18th edition of the Indo-Nepal Joint Military Exercise, Surya Kiran, is underway in Nepal, showcasing the enduring partnership and mutual commitment between the Indian and Nepalese armies. This annual exercise focuses on enhancing operational preparedness and exchanging best practices, particularly in counterterrorism and operations in challenging terrains.
The joint training includes rigorous combat drills such as jungle survival, ambush tactics, heliborne operations, and combat first aid. Soldiers are also being trained in urban warfare scenarios, including close-quarter combat and room-clearing techniques, to equip them for modern battlefield challenges.
In addition to combat skills, the exercise emphasizes fitness, resilience, and teamwork through activities like team sports and yoga sessions, fostering camaraderie and mental focus among the troops. Lane training, simulating real-world scenarios, tests participants’ tactical decision-making and endurance under pressure.
