Srinagar, Feb 6:
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) intensified its probe into a sophisticated “white-collar” terror network on Friday, conducting extensive searches at the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag.
The raids are part of an ongoing investigation into a module that was first dismantled in November 2025, which revealed a disturbing nexus between professional classes and cross-border terror outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
The “Locker” Connection
The focus of Friday’s search was directly linked to the recovery of a weapon within the hospital’s secure zones.

The Discovery: In November 2025, an AK-47 rifle was recovered from a locker previously assigned to Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather.

The Suspect: Dr. Rather, a former senior resident at GMC Anantnag, was among nine individuals arrested late last year.

The Scope: Investigators believe the “white-collar” module used high-ranking professional covers to facilitate logistics, including the storage of arms and ammunition within government institutions.
This module has also been linked to a massive recovery of explosives in Faridabad (NCR) and is under scrutiny for its role in the Red Fort car blast that occurred on November 10, 2025.
Security Audit: Hospitals on Alert
Following the security breach at GMC Anantnag, health authorities across the Kashmir Valley have launched a massive audit of internal infrastructure.

Locker Re-labeling: All medical staff and students have been ordered to verify and label their lockers with unique ID codes.

Unclaimed Storage: Any unidentified almirahs or lockers are being seized by security forces to prevent their use as “dead drops” for weapons.
Simultaneous Anti-Terror Ops in Pulwama
While the NIA was at GMC Anantnag, a separate joint operation was launched by the Army and Police in the Koil Karewa area of Pulwama district.
