UDHAMPUR, JAN 17: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) achieved a historic milestone with the maiden flight of cadets from the newly raised 1 J&K Air Squadron NCC at Udhampur. The inaugural flight, conducted under the aegis of NCC Directorate Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh, marked a significant step towards providing dynamic aviation training opportunities to cadets.
The 1 J&K Air Squadron NCC, recently established under the command of Wing Commander Nitin Yadav, is the first and only Air NCC unit in the region. Equipped with microlight aircraft, the unit is committed to fostering aviation excellence and adventure training, preparing cadets for leadership roles in both military and civilian spheres.
Cadet Siya Kotwal of SKUAST Jammu, the first to experience flight, expressed her excitement and pride. “Flying was an experience I will never forget. It’s a dream come true and an opportunity I never imagined I would get. This flight has inspired me to push myself further and pursue my passion for aviation,” she said.
Cadet Aviral from Army Public School, Udhampur, shared similar sentiments, stating, “This flying experience has motivated me to push myself in my dream of joining the Armed Forces. I will never forget this unique experience.” Cadet Akshat Gupta from SKUAST Jammu and Cadet Bhumika Sharma from SMVDU Katra also described the flight as a life-changing experience.
Speaking on the occasion, Wing Commander Nitin Yadav highlighted the significance of the event. “This first flight signifies not just a technical achievement, but a new chapter in the NCC’s mission to inspire and challenge the youth of our nation in chasing their dreams. We are proud to provide opportunities for cadets to explore new horizons and enhance their skills in multi-dimensional domains,” he said.
The successful event is expected to open new avenues for aviation and adventure training within the NCC, further cementing its role in instilling a sense of discipline and adventure in the youth. The 1 J&K Air Squadron NCC, part of NCC Group HQ Jammu, aims to enhance the aviation training capacity in the region and inspire the next generation of leaders to contribute to the nation’s development.
