Jammu, Jan 6:

In a high-stakes appeal that has sent ripples through the political landscape, S.O.S. International, the frontline organization for displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch a decisive military operation to reclaim the region.

In a formal letter dated January 5, 2026, Chairman Rajiv Chuni called for the total liberation of PoJK, framing it as a “long-overdue act of justice” for the tens of thousands of families displaced since 1947.

The timing of the appeal is significant. It comes just days after the United States executed Operation Absolute Resolve, a lightning-fast military strike in Caracas that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro on narco-terrorism charges.

Chuni argued that if the U.S. could take such drastic measures to safeguard its national security against narco-terrorism, India’s moral and legal justification for reclaiming PoJK is “far superior.

“The U.S. acted against a foreign leader without a territorial claim. India, however, seeks to restore its own sovereign territory as per the 1994 Parliamentary Resolution,” Chuni stated in the letter.

The appeal outlines four critical pillars for military action:

  • Territorial Integrity: Fulfilling the unanimous 1994 resolution that declares PoJK an integral part of India.

  • Dismantling Terror Infrastructure: Destroying the “launch pads” and training camps that have fueled decades of cross-border insurgency.

  • Combatting Narco-Terrorism: Neutralizing drug trafficking routes in PoJK that are allegedly being used to fund militancy and devastate Indian youth.

  • Humanitarian Crisis: Ending the 78-year oppression of local residents and the exploitation of natural resources by Pakistan.

The letter vividly details the suffering of the indigenous people of PoJK, citing the 1947 genocide of Hindus and Sikhs and the subsequent seizure of ancestral lands for projects like the Mangla Dam without compensation.

“We have lived as ‘displaced persons’ in our own country for three generations,” said Chuni. “Under PM Modi’s visionary leadership, we believe this is the pivotal moment to dismantle the illegal occupation and reintegrate our homeland with the motherland.”

While the UN Security Council remains divided over the recent U.S. actions in South America, the sentiment in Jammu is one of emboldenment. Analysts suggest that the “Trump Corollary”—the idea of using special operations to neutralize non-state threats and narco-states—is being closely watched by New Delhi as it weighs its options along the Line of Control.
