KOLKATA, JAN 15: A Sector Commander level Border Coordination Meeting between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was held on Monday at BOP Benapole, 49 BGB. The meeting aimed to bolster bilateral relations and address shared concerns along the India-Bangladesh border.
The BSF delegation was led by Tarni Kumar, DIG, Sector Headquarters BSF Kolkata, while the BGB delegation was headed by Colonel Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury, Sector Commander, Sector Headquarters BGB Khulna. Senior officials, including Battalion Commanders and Staff Officers from both forces, were also part of the discussions.
Key topics of mutual interest were deliberated during the meeting, including the implementation of the Single Row Fence (SRF), development projects in border areas, and strategies to combat cross-border crimes such as cattle smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal immigration.
Speaking about the event, the Public Relations Officer of BSF South Bengal Frontier stated, “These high-level meetings are a testament to the strong partnership between India and Bangladesh. Through open dialogue and cooperation, both forces have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the sanctity of the international border while addressing shared challenges. The BSF remains steadfast in its mission to guard the borders and promote harmony with its neighbors.”
