Jammu, January 3:
In a major push to consolidate its political footprint in the strategically vital border belts, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a high-level organizational review meeting today in Jammu. The meeting focused on the Nowshera, Poonch, and Rajouri regions, stressing the need for booth-level strengthening and direct public outreach.
The meeting was chaired by top brass including J&K BJP President and MP (Rajya Sabha) Sat Sharma CA, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, and General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul.
Strategic Focus on Border and Hilly Areas
Addressing a packed room of party stalwarts and grassroots activists, Sat Sharma highlighted that the Peer Panjal region remains a top priority for the party’s “inclusive development” agenda.
-
Inclusive Growth: Sharma emphasized that under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, the BJP is committed to bringing peace and prosperity to the most remote hilly areas.
-
Booth-Level Activation: He directed leaders to strengthen the party structure at the Mandal and Booth levels, ensuring that the achievements of the Modi government reach every household.
Sunil Sharma, the Leader of Opposition in the J&K Legislative Assembly, called on the cadre to be more proactive on the ground. He urged party workers to: Continuously raise issues related to infrastructure, education, and employment. Actively counter what he termed the “misleading narratives” of opposition parties by presenting the reality of BJP’s governance.
“The voice of the common citizen must be effectively reflected in governance. Our outreach programs must intensify to ensure no person is left behind,” Sunil Sharma stated.
Ashok Koul conducted a “threadbare review” of recent party activities. He laid out a strict roadmap for the upcoming months, focusing on:
-
Disciplined Functioning: Ensuring timely execution of all national and local party programs.
-
Front Coordination: Better synergy between the different wings of the party (Morchas) to avoid overlap and maximize impact.
-
Region-Specific Plans: Directing district leaders to prepare focused action plans tailored to the unique socio-political landscape of Nowshera, Poonch, and Rajouri.
The meeting saw participation from a wide array of senior leadership, including: MP Er. Ghulam Ali Khatana, General Secretary Gopal Mahajan, District Presidents: Dev Raj Sharma (Rajouri) and Gurdeep Singh Khalsa (Poonch), Prabharis: Munish Sharma (Rajouri) and Daljit Singh Chib (Nowshera), Senior Leaders: Adv. Vibodh Gupta, Adv. Murtaza Khan, and ST Morcha President Ch. Abdul Ghani.
This meeting comes at a time when political activity in the Union Territory is picking up pace, with the BJP clearly signaling its intent to maintain a “Zero Gap” relationship with the masses in the border districts.
