In a vibrant fusion of creativity and clinical excellence, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu hosted the award ceremony for its two-day Live Painting Competition today. The initiative, aimed at boosting mental well-being and cultural engagement, transformed the campus into a hub of artistic inspiration.

The event was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO of AIIMS Jammu, who emphasized the importance of a holistic academic environment that balances rigorous medical training with creative expression.

A Star-Studded Gathering of Dignitaries

The ceremony saw attendance from several prominent figures who lauded the institute’s unique approach to wellness:

  • Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu

  • Shri Pawan Kumar, MLA Udhampur

  • Ms. Devyani Raina, MLA Nagrota

  • Shri T. R. Raina, Former Head of Blood Transfusion Medicine, GMC Jammu

The guests noted that integrating art into a professional medical ecosystem significantly enhances the emotional resilience of both students and staff.

Mentorship by Renowned Artist K. K. Gandhi

The highlight of the two-day workshop was the mentorship provided by celebrated artist Mr. K. K. Gandhi. Through live demonstrations, Gandhi shared advanced techniques and insights into the “expressive and therapeutic value of art,” guiding 40 participants through their creative journeys.

Institutional Publications Released

Beyond the canvas, AIIMS Jammu showcased its commitment to transparency and community outreach by releasing three key institutional publications:

  1. AIIMS Jammu Telephone Directory: To facilitate seamless communication.

  2. AIIMS Jammu Newsletter (2nd Edition): Highlighting the institute’s recent milestones.

  3. Swachhta Booklet: Reinforcing the campus’s dedication to the national cleanliness mission.

The Path Forward

The event concluded with a reaffirmation of AIIMS Jammu’s mission to remain a leader not only in healthcare and research but also in the cultural and mental well-being of its fraternity.

“Art is a bridge to mental wellness, and at AIIMS Jammu, we believe in treating the person, not just the patient,” remarked a faculty member during the closing session.
