NAUSHERA, FEB 06: The Indian Army, under the aegis of the White Knight Corps, commemorated Naushera Day with a grand Ex-Servicemen Outreach Programme, paying tribute to the gallant sacrifices of veterans, Veer Naris, and Bal Sainiks. The event, attended by over 400 locals, celebrated the resilience of the people who fought alongside the Army, showing unwavering courage in the defense of the nation.
As per the handout issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, Maj Gen Kaushik Mukherjee, SM, General Officer Commanding, Ace of Spade Division, along with Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, and other dignitaries from the military and civil administration, laid wreaths at Veer Bhoomi in remembrance of Nk Jadunath Singh, PVC, and other fallen heroes. The ceremony was followed by cultural performances by students from border villages, including Jabbar and Sai Baba School, Naushera. Their vibrant performances highlighted the region’s rich culture and talent, earning appreciation from the GOC, who awarded the students and teachers for their dedication.
In a significant move, the Shan-e-Naushera Award was institutionalized to recognize outstanding contributions in academics, sports, social work, and journalism. Notable personalities from these fields were honored for their achievements and service to society.
Veterans were felicitated with deep respect, while heartfelt tributes were paid to the Veer Naris, acknowledging the immense sacrifices of their families. The event also fostered camaraderie among ex-servicemen, reinforcing the spirit of unity and pride.
In his address, the GOC reaffirmed the Army’s unwavering support to veterans’ families and the local populace, emphasizing the importance of preserving Naushera’s legacy of courage and resilience. Leading up to Naushera Day, the Indian Army had conducted various community initiatives, including the Brig Usman Inter-District Cricket Tournament, outreach programs for hill communities, a multi-specialty medical camp that provided 38 artificial limbs and 15 wheelchairs, a cross-country run for school children, and vocational training courses.
The event concluded with a message of gratitude, as the Indian Army reiterated its commitment to the welfare of Veer Naris, veterans, and their families, while upholding the sacred tradition of service to the nation.
