New Delhi/Jammu, Jan 31:

In a significant administrative development, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, has formally relieved two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers from the Delhi Government. The move follows a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) reshuffle intended to facilitate their new postings in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The two officers, belonging to the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territory) cadre, are expected to join the J&K administration by the end of the first week of February.

The Officers Involved

The relief orders apply to two high-ranking officials who held key portfolios in the national capital: Anjali Sehrawat (batch 2013); Director (Higher Education) and Director (Tourism, Transport & Trade). Kumar Abhishek (batch 2016); Deputy Commissioner (Outer North Delhi).

Strengthening the J&K Cadre

Official sources indicate that the induction of these officers into Jammu and Kashmir is part of a broader strategy by the MHA to streamline governance and bring fresh administrative expertise to the Union Territory.

  • Anjali Sehrawat (IAS 2013): Known for her extensive work in education and social welfare, she recently managed critical sectors like Higher Education and Tourism in Delhi. Her experience is expected to be vital for J&K’s growing tourism and academic sectors.

  • Kumar Abhishek (IAS 2016): Having served as a Deputy Commissioner in Delhi’s Outer North district, he brings hands-on experience in revenue department management and district administration.

Transition Timeline

The officers were formally relieved on Saturday, January 31. According to the directive, they will transition to the UT administration immediately. Sources within the J&K General Administration Department (GAD) confirmed that their specific postings within the UT will be announced shortly after they report for duty in Jammu.

This reshuffle comes at a time when the J&K administration is focusing on accelerating developmental projects and improving public service delivery across its 20 districts.
