KISHTWAR, NOV 25: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Sh. Javaid Iqbal Mir-JKPS, convened an introductory meeting with community leaders and transport union stakeholders at the District Police Office (DPO) Kishtwar. The session aimed to enhance coordination and address pressing concerns related to public welfare and transportation in the district.
Key discussions during the meeting revolved around transport service regulation, traffic management, public safety, and the operational challenges faced by transport operators. Stakeholders provided valuable insights on improving transportation efficiency while ensuring adherence to safety and legal standards.
SSP Kishtwar also raised critical issues, including the growing menace of reckless bike stunts by “road Romeos,” the increasing prevalence of drug abuse, illegal liquor sales, and recurring traffic jams in the town. Expressing concern over these challenges, he assured strict action against offenders and sought active collaboration from stakeholders in addressing these issues effectively.
Highlighting the pivotal role of transport unions in maintaining order on the roads, SSP Kishtwar urged them to work closely with the police to enforce traffic rules, prevent overloading, and promote road safety. He assured participants that their concerns would be addressed on a priority basis.
“Collective efforts are essential to creating a safe and secure environment for residents and travelers. Your cooperation is vital in achieving this goal,” he stated.
The meeting concluded with a call for sustained dialogue and cooperation to improve transport-related facilities and ensure a safer, well-organized transport system in Kishtwar district.
