JAMMU, OCT 26: In light of the current security situation in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, DIG JKS Range, Shiv Kumar (IPS), conducted an extensive security review in Samba and Kathua districts on Sunday.

As per the Police release, the visit focused on assessing the preparedness of local law enforcement agencies for anti-terror operations, particularly in sensitive border regions and high-traffic areas ahead of the upcoming festive season.

During the review, DIG Shiv Kumar interacted with members of the Special Operations Group (SOG), SDPOs, and SHOs, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and rapid response. In Samba District, he inspected key locations including AIIMS, Vijaypur Town, and Samba Town, accompanied by SSP Vinay Kumar, ASP Garu Ram, DSP Rohit, DSP Bhisham, and SDPO Mukund (IPS). Together, they reviewed security measures, ensuring readiness for any potential incidents.

As part of the assessment, DIG Shiv Kumar also visited the BSF post at Paharpur, Kathua, a crucial border area. He was joined by SSP Kathua Shobit Saxena (IPS), ASP Rahul Charak, and DSP Operations Tilak Raj Bhardwaj, where they held discussions with BSF officials to strengthen collaborative border security efforts. Security checks at various interstate police posts along the Punjab border were also reviewed to maintain heightened alertness against cross-border threats.

Reinforcing instructions from DGP J&K, Nalin Parbhat (IPS), DIG Shiv Kumar urged all police officers to maintain a high state of readiness, directing SSPs, ASPs, SDPOs, and SHOs to intensify patrolling and conduct routine searches in suspected forested areas in collaboration with the Army and CRPF. He also highlighted the need for rigorous security checks in bustling markets, chowks, and bazaars to safeguard against potential threats during the festive period.
