The operation was led by SHO Police Station Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, Shri Sarfaraz Bashir (JKPS). During the checkpoint, the police intercepted and apprehended two suspects: Muzafar Ahmad Marazi, also known as Muzz Marazi, son of Mohammad Akbar Marazi, a resident of Sofi Hamam, Sopore, and Ishfaq Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Majeed Lone, a resident of Wangam, Bandipora.
A search of the suspects led to the recovery of 5 grams of heroin-like contraband from their possession. Both individuals were arrested and taken to Police Station Tarzoo, where they remain in custody.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway. Police sources noted that Muzafar Ahmad Marazi is a repeat offender with multiple cases related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act registered against him at various police stations.
Authorities have urged the public to assist in efforts to combat drug-related crimes by reporting any suspicious activities. Citizens are encouraged to contact the nearest police station or dial 112 if they witness any drug peddling or criminal activity. Police have reassured the community that strict action will be taken against offenders in accordance with the law.
