REASI, SEPT 11: In a swift and commendable action, Reasi Police have arrested two individuals involved in a major theft case and recovered stolen property worth lakhs, including copper wire, a submersible pump, and other valuable electronic items.
The police initiated their investigation following a written complaint lodged at the Reasi Police Station. The complainant reported that unknown thieves had stolen approximately 190 meters of copper wire and a KSB Monoblock submersible pump from the PHE Pump House at Aghar Ballian (Numble) Stage-0 near the Chenab River Stone Crusher in Reasi. Additionally, copper cables measuring 180 meters, a 150 KVA voltage stabilizer, and another KSB Monoblock submersible pump were stolen from PHE Pump House Stage-1 near Keshav Gau Shala in Reasi.
Upon receiving the complaint, an FIR (No. 160/2024) under section 303(1) BNS was registered at the Reasi Police Station, and the police immediately launched an investigation. A special team was formed under the supervision of SHO Reasi, operating under DySP Headquarters Reasi. The suspects were quickly identified and rounded up one by one.
Two prime suspects, identified as Suraj Kumar, son of Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Seela currently residing in Gran More, and Sukhdev Singh, son of Kripa Ram, a resident of Charalakote, Tehsil Bhomag, were found to be involved in the theft. Acting on the information provided by the suspects during interrogation, the police successfully recovered the stolen property.
Reasi Police assured that further investigation is underway to uncover any potential links the accused may have to other theft cases in the district.
In the wake of this incident, Reasi Police have reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the property of the citizens. They also appealed to shopkeepers in Reasi, Katra, and other towns to install CCTV cameras at their business premises, as a deterrent against criminal elements.
