NEW DELHI, JAN, 17: A proud son of Reasi of Jammu and Kashmir, Rakesh Kumar has brought immense pride to the region and the country through his outstanding achievements in para archery. President Draupadi Murmu honoured Rakesh Kumar with the prestigious Arjuna Award 2024 for his outstanding achievements in para-archery.
Rakesh Kumar’s achievements include a bronze medal in the Mixed Compound Team event at the Paralympic Games 2024 held in Paris, France. He also secured one gold and two silver medals at the 4th Asian Para Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, excelling in the Mixed Team, Individual, and Men’s Team events. Additionally, he clinched a gold medal in the Mixed Team event at the World Archery Para Championship 2023 in Pilsen, Czech Republic.
The Arjuna Award is one of the highest honors in Indian sports, aimed at recognizing and celebrating extraordinary contributions to the field. Rakesh Kumar’s recognition reaffirms the government’s commitment to promoting para-sports and supporting athletes in their journey to achieve excellence.
