The Northern Regional Police Command is on a manhunt for some youth behind violent clashes between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) last Sunday.
Superintendent Baba Ananga, the Northern Region Crime Officer of the Ghana Police Service, speaking on the 3FM Sunrise morning show, said one person has been arrested following the clashes while they are in pursuit of the other people believed to have masterminded the violent clashes.
According to him, the police officers are on the ground and hope to get results.

Six persons believed to be sympathisers of the NPP in the Karaga Constituency were severely injured after a misunderstanding ensued between NPP and NDC supporters in the constituency.
The victims are currently receiving treatment at the Karaga Hospital.
“So far we have one arrest which I can say that very day,” the Crime Officer said.
“It’s a small community, so as soon as we started arresting them the rest ran into the bushes. What we can do is a police patrol to ensure that anyone who is not connected to that case have their peace whiles we pursue the rest who are involved in this issue,” he stated.
According to him, the case will be treated as a criminal case and perpetrators responsible would be caught for the law to be applied.
“Of course, incidences like this, we have to ensure that we have our men on the ground which we indeed have, and also ensure that women and children are properly protected which indeed yes we have and also investigations are ongoing. Some people have been identified already and we are also pursuing them to get them arrested.”
He also said it is a small community and they hope they can easily identify the suspects.
