SRINAGAR, OCT 16: National Conference (NC) president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday assured that the new government in Jammu and Kashmir would work towards alleviating the hardships faced by the people of both regions—Jammu and Kashmir.
His statement came following the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected government in the Union Territory.
Addressing reporters in Srinagar, Dr. Abdullah emphasized that the government would treat both regions with fairness and work to end the longstanding issues affecting the populace. “The government will ensure that both regions are treated equally, and the sufferings of the people will be brought to an end,” he stated.
Earlier in the day, National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, marking a historic moment as he became the first chief minister of the Union Territory since its reorganization.
Along with Omar Abdullah, five ministers—Sakina Itoo, Javed Dar, Javed Rana, Surinder Choudhary, and Satish Sharma—also took the oath, forming the new cabinet that will lead the region towards development and stability.
