Member of Parliament for Mfantsiman Constituency Ekow Kwansah Hayford has been shot dead.
He is reported to have been killed Friday dawn when some armed robbers attacked his convoy on the Abeadze Dominase-Mankessim road in his constituency.
He was returning from a campaign trip, 3news.com gathers.
A member of the MP’s convoy, narrating the incident on Friday, said the robbers had robbed them of all their monies and phones but when the MP tried to identify himself, they said even they politicians have made living conditions difficult in Ghana.
The eye witness said about four of them were asked to lie on the street while the MP made to lie in the near-by bush.
The robbers’ attention, he further narrated, was diverted onto an oncoming passenger vehicle, allowing some of them to escape into the near-by bush.
But it was later that the lawmaker’s driver was wailing that he has been killed by the robbers, the eye witness said.
The Mfantsiman MP is said to have been shot seven times in his tummy.
His body has since been deposited at the Saltpond Hospital morgue.
