UDHAMPUR, JAN 31: The Municipal Council (MC) Udhampur, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, conducted an extensive anti-encroachment and anti-polythene drive in Udhampur town on Wednesday. The initiative, led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rajinder Digra, aimed to address encroachment issues and curb the use of polythene in the region.

During the operation, 15 rehris (handcarts) were seized, and approximately 30 kilograms of polythene were confiscated. Additionally, fines totaling Rs 4,000 were imposed on violators for non-compliance with regulations.

CEO Rajinder Digra appealed to shopkeepers and business owners to voluntarily remove encroachments from public spaces, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a clean and orderly environment. The campaign also included an awareness drive to educate the public and traders about the environmental hazards associated with polythene and plastic waste.
