JAMMU, APRIL 04: Shri Raghunath Ji Corridor Vikas Council has announced a grand Maha Arti event at the Tawi River Front on April 13, 2025, coinciding with Baisakhi. The ceremony, set to begin at 5:30 PM, will mark the commencement of activities at the newly developed riverfront, modeled after Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati River Front under the Jammu Smart City Limited project.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will be the chief guest at the event. A grand mela is also being organized by Jammu Smart City Limited in collaboration with the Tourism Department, making the occasion a vibrant celebration of culture and heritage.
The Council has secured formal consent from Jammu Smart City Limited for the event and is seeking support from the Directorate of Tourism Jammu to promote it for the greater benefit of the tourism sector. Drawing inspiration from the Maha Arti traditions of Kashi, Rishikesh, and Haridwar, the Council aims to highlight Jammu’s cultural and religious heritage while also raising awareness about water conservation.
The event will take place on the banks of Surya Putri Tavishi, regarded as the younger sister of Maa Ganga, at a site believed to be blessed by Bawe Wali Mata. With spiritual fervor and scenic beauty, the Maha Arti at the Tawi River Front promises to be a mesmerizing experience.
The Council has extended an open invitation to the public to participate in the celebrations and witness the divine grandeur of the riverfront’s inaugural religious gathering.
