Dhallan XI Triumphs Over Badshah Club in Tournament Opener

POONCH, NOV 29: The Krishna Ghati Premier League (KGPL) 2024-25, a unique cricketing event organized by the Nangi Tekri Battalion under the Krishna Ghati Brigade, began with great fanfare at the Jhullas Cricket Ground, Poonch. Inaugurated by Brigadier A.R. Singh, Commander of the Krishna Ghati Brigade, the league celebrates sportsmanship while paying homage to the region’s heroic history.

As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the distinguished guests at the ceremony included DDC Poonch Tazeem Akhtar, ZPEO Poonch Amrit Sharma, and international volleyball coach Tariq Khan. The event drew an enthusiastic crowd, showcasing the community’s excitement for the tournament, which promises to highlight local talent and foster unity.

The league features 32 teams from Poonch, Surankote, and Rajouri, competing in a knockout format. The grand finale will take place on Vijay Diwas, December 16, 2024, commemorating India’s historic victory in the 1971 war. A prize pool of ₹8.50 lakhs has been announced for the winners, runners-up, and standout players, with IPL and state-level cricketers adding star power to the event.

The opening match saw Dhallan XI face off against Badshah Club in a thrilling contest. Dhallan XI displayed excellent performance and secured a six-wicket victory, setting the stage for an action-packed tournament. The technical in-charge of the event, Pervaiz Malik Afridi, ensured smooth management of the match, which captivated the audience.

By intertwining cricket with the region’s proud military history, KGPL 2024-25 stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of heroism and unity. The tournament seeks to inspire youth, celebrate local talent, and honor the sacrifices of the past, promising an unforgettable season for players and spectators alike.
