NEW DELHI, OCT 15: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed senior party leader G.A. Mir as the new Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader for Jammu & Kashmir. The appointment was made following a unanimous resolution passed by the Members of the Legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir, and with the authorization of the Congress President.
In an official communication issued by K.C. Venugopal, a copy of which available with The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, General Secretary of the AICC, the Congress leadership decided to name Mir as the CLP leader after consulting key party members in the region.
The letter reads, “Following the unanimous resolution of the Members of the Legislative Assembly, Jammu & Kashmir, authorizing the Congress President to appoint a new CLP leader, the Congress President has appointed G.A. Mir as the new CLP Leader of Jammu & Kashmir.” The announcement is expected to strengthen the party’s position in the Union Territory.
