The Chair of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has assured that results of the presidential elections will be declared not later than Wednesday, December 9.
Jean Adukwei Mensa expressed regret that the results were not declared within 24 hours as intended but explained that it was as a result of rains in some constituencies and challenges filed by political parties to some of the results.
She disclosed this Wednesday dawn while addressing journalists at the Commission’s headquarters in Accra.
She said so far results from 14 out of the 16 regions have been received with seven of them already certified.
She indicated further that in a few hours the rest will also be certified and with the reception of the remaining two regional results, the elections will be declared.
