JAMMU, NOV 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Friday night as part of its ongoing Operation Kamdhenu against bovine smuggling, successfully intercepted an attempt to transport 15 bovines illegally in the Akhnoor Sub-division.
As per the release, issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, a police team from Police Post Chowki Choura acted swiftly at a checkpoint when they stopped a truck bearing registration number JK12A-2805 en route from Jammu to Rajouri. The vehicle, carrying 15 bovines, was intercepted at the Chowki Choura Naka. However, the driver managed to escape, taking advantage of the darkness.
The rescued bovines were safely recovered, and the vehicle used in the smuggling attempt was seized. A case has been registered under FIR No. 211/2024 under Section 223/BNS and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act at Police Station Akhnoor.
Local residents have praised the police for their strict and continuous actions against bovine smugglers. The police have assured that further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the smuggling attempt.
