JAMMU, FEB 06: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday convened a meeting of its MLAs at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, to discuss the prevailing law and order situation in the Union Territory.

The meeting was addressed by J&K BJP President Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, and General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul. Several senior leaders, including BJP National Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh, Vice-Presidents Sham Lal Sharma, Yudhvir Sethi, and Surjit Singh Salathia, along with General Secretary Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, were present. Other attendees included MLAs CP Ganga, Rajiv Jasrotia, Vikram Randhawa, Balwant Singh Mankotia, RS Pathania, Surinder Bhagat, Vijay Sharma, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Kuldeep Raj Dubey, Sunil Bhardwaj, Shagun Parihar, Satish Sharma, and Rajeev Bhagat.

Expressing concern over the recent surge in crimes such as shootouts, drug-related offenses, and thefts, Sat Sharma urged the MLAs to actively engage with the administration and law enforcement agencies. He emphasized that BJP, despite not being in the government in J&K, remains a party of the masses and that its MLAs must ensure public grievances are addressed effectively.

Sunil Sharma reaffirmed the party’s commitment to representing the concerns of the people, stating that BJP MLAs follow the principle of “Antyodaya,” which focuses on uplifting the most marginalized sections of society. He assured that the legislators would raise every public issue in the Assembly and work towards strengthening law and order in the region.

Ashok Koul highlighted BJP’s electoral success in J&K, noting that the party secured 29 seats in the 2024 Assembly elections with the highest percentage of votes. He stressed that it is now the responsibility of the MLAs to uphold the trust placed in them by the people.
