JAMMU, OCT 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Police Station R.S. Pura in Jammu district on Thursday successfully apprehended a bike lifter and recovered a stolen Scooty within 24 hours of the crime. The incident occurred in the Gagian area of R.S. Pura, Jammu, where a Scooty was stolen from outside the complainant’s residence.
On October 16, 2024, Bansi Lal, son of Tirth Ram, a resident of Railway Line Gagian in R.S. Pura, lodged a complaint with the local police station. He reported that on the previous day, October 15, at around 10:30 AM, he had parked his Scooty (registration number JK02BA-3431) outside his house. After half an hour, upon returning, he discovered that the vehicle had been stolen by unknown individuals.
Acting swiftly, the police registered an FIR (No. 227/2024) under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and immediately set up a special team to track down the culprits. Based on inputs from local sources and technical assistance, the team apprehended the accused, identified as Rohit Kumar, son of Karam Chand, a resident of Ghazipur Kullian, Tehsil R.S. Pura.
During sustained questioning, the accused confessed to his involvement in the theft, leading to the recovery of the stolen Scooty. The recovery was made within 24 hours of the complaint being filed.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
