ANANTNAG, NOV 06: In a determined crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Wednesday attached property worth ₹1.2 crore belonging to Mohammad Ashraf Dar, a resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara, known for his involvement in drug trafficking in Anantnag.
The action was taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act as part of ongoing efforts to curb the region’s drug trade.
As per the police release, Mohammad Ashraf Dar, son of Jalal-Ud-Din, has faced multiple charges under the NDPS Act, with cases involving the possession and trafficking of narcotics such as codeine phosphate, charas, and SpasmoProxyvon Plus. His most recent offense, recorded on April 4, 2021, led to the seizure of a significant drug haul, including 70 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, 34.7 kg of Charas powder, and 4,320 capsules of SpasmoProxyvon Plus.
The investigation extended to Dar’s family, uncovering the involvement of his two sons, Inayat Ahmad Dar and Sahil Ahmad Dar, in drug-related activities. In 2024, both were arrested on separate charges, with Inayat found in possession of nine bottles of Codeine Phosphate under FIR No. 13/2024, and Sahil with twelve bottles under FIR No. 36/2024.
Although Mohammad Ashraf Dar claimed an agricultural income, authorities determined that his three-storey residence in Tulkhan, valued at approximately ₹1.2 crore, was financed through illegal drug trafficking profits. The Anantnag Police, operating through Police Station Bijbehara, invoked Section 68(1) of the NDPS Act to attach the property, ensuring it cannot be sold or altered.
