Air Vice Marshal Vikas Sharma

LEH, OCT 10: Air Vice Marshal Vikas Sharma assumed command of the Headquarters Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh (JK&L) on Wednesday. An officer with over three decades of distinguished service, he was commissioned into the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force (IAF) on June 16, 1990.

A graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and the College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad, Air Vice Marshal Sharma is also an alumnus of the National Defence College, New Delhi. Throughout his 33-year career, he has held several key appointments, including Commanding Officer of a fighter squadron, Air Officer Commanding of a frontline fighter base in the eastern sector, and the Networked Tactical Node.

In addition to his operational roles, Air Vice Marshal Sharma has represented India as Defence Attaché to the Kingdom of Thailand. Before assuming his current post, he served as the Senior Officer in charge of Administration at the Southern Air Command. In recognition of his service, he was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2011.
