JAMMU, OCT 23: AIIMS Jammu in the  world has a great yyhas successfully performed its first spine surgery, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of healthcare services in the region.

The surgery, conducted on a patient diagnosed with L5-S1 Prolapsed Intervertebral Disc (PIVD) with right-side radiculopathy, was hailed as a major success. The condition, which causes severe back pain and nerve compression in the lower limbs, was expertly treated by a specialized medical team, highlighting AIIMS Jammu’s growing capabilities in delivering advanced healthcare.

The surgical team, led by Dr. Tarsem Lal Motten, Dr. Rashid Anjum, and Dr. Imran, was complemented by an expert anesthesia team led by Dr. Sunana Gupta, with support from Dr. Sandeepika Dogra and Dr. Pallavi. The anesthesia team’s role was crucial in ensuring the patient’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure.

The success of this spine surgery is part of AIIMS Jammu’s broader efforts to expand its medical services and offer advanced treatment options across various specialties. Equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities and staffed by highly qualified professionals, the institute is committed to providing world-class healthcare.

The Department of Orthopedics is now aiming to further expand its spine care services, including the treatment of deformities and scoliosis, along with other subspecialties in the field.

Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu, expressed his optimism about the institution’s growth.
