MD Jal Jeevan Mission Directs Timely Completion of Schemes with 75% Progress in Bandipora

BANDIPORA, APRIL 18: Mission Director (MD), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Jammu and Kashmir, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, on Thursday chaired a comprehensive review meeting in Bandipora to assess the ongoing works under JJM. The meeting, held in the presence of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, M.A. Qadri, focused on expediting the execution of water supply schemes and addressing bottlenecks.

As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the Mission Director emphasized the need to schedule works effectively, particularly ensuring timely procurement of filter media to prevent unnecessary delays. He urged officials of the Jal Shakti Department to speed up the execution process to ensure uninterrupted piped water supply to households.

A detailed PowerPoint presentation was given to brief the MD and other officials about the status of JJM schemes in the district. The review revealed that out of 240 allotted works under the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Hydraulic Division Bandipora, PHE Division Sopore, and Special Sub-Division (SSD) Gurez, 60 schemes and 160 works have been completed, while the rest are in progress.

Officials further informed that out of 46,695 households across 122 villages in the district, 40,695 have already been provided with Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs).

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner M.A. Qadri urged all officers to intensify their efforts to complete the remaining works within the set timelines. He acknowledged the efforts of the District Administration in overcoming challenges during execution and instructed that any unresolved land or administrative issues be brought to his attention for swift resolution.

The Mission Director issued clear timelines for various ongoing works and directed that schemes which have achieved over 75% progress be prioritized for commissioning within the next one and a half months. He also called upon Executive Engineers to push harder to expand FHTC coverage and accelerate efforts toward achieving Har Ghar Jal certification for eligible villages, in line with the guidelines of the National Jal Jeevan Mission.

The meeting was attended by the Superintendent Engineer Mechanical North, Executive Engineers of PHE Divisions Bandipora and Sopore, Ground Water Division, AEE SSD Gurez, District Project Management Unit Bandipora, AEEs, JEs, and other concerned officials.
