JAMMU, OCT 03: Jammu Police in Akhnoor have successfully solved a sensational snatching case, leading to the arrest of three hardcore criminals. The accused were involved in the theft of approximately ₹1.5 lakh and the assault of a wine shop salesman, with the use of firearms to intimidate the victim. Police have also seized the weapon and motorcycle used in the crime.
The incident occurred on September 19, 2024, when Suresh Kumar, a resident of Sungal, Akhnoor, filed a complaint with the police. According to the complaint, three unidentified individuals snatched around ₹1.5 lakh, the proceeds of a wine shop sale, and physically assaulted the salesman while threatening him with a firearm. A case was registered under FIR No. 167/2024 at Akhnoor Police Station under sections 126(2), 115(2), 307, and 3(5)BNS.
The Akhnoor police, led by SHO Akhnoor, swiftly initiated an investigation. They meticulously analyzed CCTV footage from the crime scene and, with the help of timely human intelligence, were able to identify and detain the suspects.
During interrogation, the accused, identified as Amit Pawa alias Sundi (resident of Gigrial, Khour), Ashok Singh alias Raja (resident of Danwal, Khour), and Vishal Sharma alias Vishu (resident of Galwade Chak, Marh), confessed to their involvement in the crime. Based on their disclosures, the police recovered key evidence, including:
- An illegal firearm (Desi katta) used in the offence,
- A Glamour motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AV/9058,
- A wooden lathi,
- A black-colored bag.
All three accused are known to have a history of criminal activities and have been involved in several previous cases. Their arrest is seen as a significant breakthrough in curbing criminal activities in the region.
The case is currently under further investigation to explore any additional criminal links related to the trio.
