POONCH, SEPT 08: A police officer has been suspended by the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police 6th Battalion due to a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
Sergeant Mukhtar Ahmad attended a political program organized by a candidate of the Indian National Congress in Surankote on August 24, 2024.
A letter written by the ARO to Surankote, a copy of which lies with the News Vibes of India, reads the officer’s presence in the political meeting was an open and blatant violation of the MCC and the Government Employees Conduct Rules of 1971.
It reads, the photos taken during the event showed Sgt. Ahmad sitting among the audience and leading, following which the ARO had recommended stringent action.
Consequently, it reads as Sergeant Ahmad has been suspended with immediate effect. He is directed to return all government-issued items, including the uniform and arms, to the unit store. He will draw subsistence allowance as per rules during the suspension.
“A departmental inquiry has been initiated, which Deputy Superintendent Mohammad Azeem has been directed to conduct. The findings will be sent for further action,” reads the letter.
