QAZIGUND, DEC 06: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Thursday apprehended two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow group of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), at Ghulab Bagh in Qazigund district.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the arrests, linked to an ongoing investigation under FIR No. 262/2024 at Qazigund Police Station, led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Altaf Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Ahad Lone, a resident of Kachoora Zadoora, and Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, a resident of Nipora, Mirbazar. Upon interrogation, the duo disclosed information about their possession of weapons, leading to the seizure of two AK-56 rifles, four AK series magazines, and 79 live cartridges of AK series.
According to officials, the accused were operating under the instructions of a Pakistani handler identified as Hamza Bhai. They were reportedly preparing to execute terror activities in the region, furthering the agenda of their handlers.
A police spokesperson stated, “The arrests are a significant step in disrupting terror modules active in the area. Investigations are ongoing to uncover more links and prevent further activities.”
