Jammu, May 25:
In a major blow to the local narcotics network, the Reasi Police have attached immovable properties worth an estimated ₹45 lakhs belonging to a notorious drug smuggler. The action, executed under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan” (Drug-Free Jammu Kashmir Campaign), targets the financial roots of the illicit drug trade in the region.
The Seizure
A specialized police team, led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) and the Station House Officer (SHO) of Katra, targeted the assets of Jamad Ali (also known as Jamat), son of Abdul Haq, residing in Kheri Paroh, Tehsil Katra.
The attached assets include two residential houses valued at approximately ₹45 lakhs. Investigating officials state that these properties were acquired using illicit funds directly generated from the narcotics trade.
The seizure was executed under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, which empowers law enforcement to freeze or attach property derived from, or used in, illicit drug trafficking.
