Jammu, March 10:
The All Jammu & Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) has announced a major 72-hour peaceful hunger strike starting March 15, aimed at pressing the government to address long-standing grievances in the Nagrota Assembly Constituency.
The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting of prominent citizens held today at the Narsingh Mandir in Jindra. Led by AJKPC President Anil Sharma, the agitation marks a significant escalation in the community’s push for administrative attention.
The Protest Roadmap
The “Anshan” (hunger strike) is designed as a phased movement to allow the government time to respond.
-
Commencement: Sunday, March 15, at 12:00 Noon.
-
Location: Narsingh Mandir, Jindrah.
-
Initial Duration: 72 hours (3 days).
-
Extension Clause: If no dialogue is initiated by the administration within the first 72 hours, the strike will be extended for another 3-day cycle.
“Non-Political and Disciplined”
In a notable move to maintain the integrity of the movement, the AJKPC has issued strict guidelines for participants. The organizers emphasized that the focus remains strictly on the genuine demands of the people, rather than political rivalry.
-
No Sloganeering: Participants have resolved not to raise slogans against any specific political party.
-
Open Invitation: The protest site is open to all. Any MLA, Member of Parliament, or Minister is welcome to visit, listen to the grievances, and receive a formal memorandum.
