JAMMU, OCT 07: Jammu Police in the R.S. Pura area successfully solved the blind murder of a woman within 48 hours, arresting the accused from Punjab. The incident took place on October 3, 2024, and the accused, identified as Parkash Paswan alias Santosh, was apprehended from Khanauri District, Sangrur, Punjab, with the assistance of local police and technical surveillance.
According to reports, the Police Station R.S. Pura received information from reliable sources at around 07:30 AM on October 4, 2024, regarding an unidentified female dead body found in the fields of Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Ramnagar Basti, Badyal Brahmana in Tehsil R.S. Pura, District Jammu. The body had reportedly been murdered by unknown individuals. Acting swiftly, the police registered FIR No. 216/2024 under Section 103 of the BNS at Police Station R.S. Pura and immediately initiated an investigation.
A police team led by Inspector Naveen Angral, SHO of R.S. Pura Police Station, under the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura, was formed to investigate the case. Through technical assistance and collaboration with Khanauri Police, the team tracked down and arrested the suspect, Parkash Paswan, on October 6, 2024.
Upon interrogation, Parkash Paswan confessed to the murder and revealed details of the crime. He disclosed that his wife, Neha, and he had been living in Badyal Brahmana for the past three months, where he worked as a laborer. The couple initially stayed at the house of Amar Nath, a resident of Badyal Brahmana, and later shifted to the residence of Parveen Kumar, where they lived for the last 20 days.
Parkash confessed that he had doubts about his wife’s character, which led to frequent disputes. On the night of October 3, a scuffle broke out between Parkash, Neha, and their landlord, Parveen Kumar. Following the altercation, the couple left Parveen’s house and sought shelter at a cattle shed belonging to Ramesh Chander, located in a secluded field.
While his wife was sleeping, Parkash attacked her with a brick and then strangled her using her dupatta, ultimately killing her. He later disposed of her body in a nearby paddy field and fled the scene.
The police are continuing their investigation to gather further evidence in the case.
