SRINAGAR, NOV 25: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Monday attached properties worth ₹1.6 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The crackdown aims to disrupt the economic networks supporting illegal narcotics operations in the district.
According to an official statement, Police Station Aishmuqam froze the assets of Mushtaq Ahmed Ahanger, son of Mohammad Sadiq Ahanger and a resident of Hapatnaar Aishmuqam. The seized properties include a double-storey concrete building and a shop, collectively valued at approximately ₹1.3 crore. Mushtaq Ahmed is implicated in ongoing narcotics-related offenses, and the action is part of efforts to dismantle his operations.
Similarly, Police Station Anantnag attached a double-storey building with six concrete shops in Sadoora, belonging to Bashir Ahmed Mir, son of Abdul Khaliq Mir. A habitual offender involved in multiple drug-related cases, Bashir Ahmed’s assets are estimated to be worth ₹30 lakh.
“These decisive actions send a clear message: drug trafficking will not only be penalized but its financial infrastructure will be dismantled systematically,” a police spokesperson said.
The initiative reflects Anantnag Police’s unwavering commitment to eradicating the drug menace in the region. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in combating this societal threat.
