Jammu:
The “Kashmir to Kanyakumari” Dhwaj Yatra, a massive nationwide initiative celebrating the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), reached the city of Jammu today. The yatra, which serves as a precursor to the theatrical release of the film Shatak: Sangh’s 100 Years, arrived to a grand reception following its high-profile commencement at Srinagar’s historic Lal Chowk.
A Journey of “National Consciousness”
The streets of Jammu were filled with enthusiasm as the saffron flag (Bhagwa Dhwaj)—symbolizing the Sangh’s vision of national consciousness—was carried through the city’s major thoroughfares. The march remained peaceful and disciplined, reflecting the core tenets of the organization.
The yatra aims to showcase the RSS’s century-long evolution since its founding in 1925, highlighting its role in:
-
The Indian Freedom Struggle: Documenting the often-untold contributions of early volunteers.
-
Social Service: Showcasing disaster relief and rural development initiatives.
-
Nation Building: Reflecting the vision of past leaders like Guruji M.S. Golwalkar and the modern leadership of Dr. Mohan Bhagwat.
“A Tribute to Sacrifice” – Vir Kapur
Speaking to reporters during the Jammu leg of the march, film producer and RSS Karyakarta Vir Kapur emphasized the emotional weight of starting the journey in Kashmir.
“Beginning this yatra from Lal Chowk was a heartfelt tribute to the RSS volunteers, local Kashmiri citizens, and the brave Indian Army personnel who made immense sacrifices during Kashmir’s most defining period,” Kapur stated.
He further noted that the yatra has seen diverse participation, including members of the local Muslim community, which he described as a testament to the “collective spirit of the nation.”
About the Film: ‘Shatak’
The Dhwaj Yatra is closely tied to the upcoming cinematic release of Shatak: Sangh’s 100 Years. The film is being positioned not just as a historical drama, but as a “cinematic chronicle” of an idea that has survived a century.
