Jammu, Jan 10:
Border Security Forces (BSF) today wee hours seized an arms consignment allegedly dropped by a drone from Pakistan side near the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and, officials sources said.
According to the BSF sources, the recovered cache including two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition and a grenade. The seizure comes amid heightened security arrangements to foil any attempt by terrorists to disrupt the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
Following intelligence inputs, a joint team of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the J&K Police launched a search operation in Paloora village of Ghagwal late Friday night after suspected drone movement near IB.
During the search, the teams detected a packet wrapped in yellow tape lying on the banks of a stream. The packet was safely opened with the assistance of a bomb disposal squad, leading to the recovery of the weapons.
Searches near the border was still on according to the last reports came in.
