JAMMU, FEB 19: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday condemned Pakistan’s recent resolution on Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a baseless and desperate attempt to mislead the international community.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, BJP Spokesperson Gaurav Gupta, accompanied by party spokespersons Purnima Sharma and Balbir Ram Rattan, dismissed the resolution passed by Pakistan’s Parliament, reiterating that Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and will always remain an integral part of India.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, Gaurav Gupta criticized Pakistan for using Kashmir as a diversionary tactic amid its ongoing political and economic turmoil. “Instead of making false claims about Kashmir, Pakistan should focus on addressing severe human rights violations in Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan, where people are continually denied basic rights,” he said.
Gupta further highlighted Pakistan’s role as a hub for terrorism, stating, “Pakistan is globally recognized as the epicenter of militancy, with groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen operating freely from its soil.” He also pointed out the ongoing persecution and discrimination faced by minorities in Pakistan, questioning its moral authority to comment on India’s human rights record.
Referring to the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019, Gupta described it as a “historic decision” that paved the way for unprecedented development in Jammu and Kashmir. “Since then, the region has witnessed rapid infrastructure growth, increased investments, record-breaking tourism, and stronger democratic participation,” he added.
Gupta also emphasized the significance of the G20 Summit held in Srinagar, calling it a clear sign of the international community’s recognition of J&K’s progress. “The successful hosting of the G20 event in the Valley is proof that the world acknowledges the peace and development taking place in Jammu and Kashmir and rejects Pakistan’s baseless claims,” he said.
Highlighting the peaceful conduct of the recent Lok Sabha and J&K Assembly elections, Gupta noted, “The large voter turnout and enthusiastic participation show that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have completely rejected Pakistan’s false narrative and are firmly committed to peace, democracy, and development.”
He urged Pakistan to “stop spreading lies, end state-sponsored terrorism, and focus on resolving its internal issues.” Reaffirming India’s commitment to the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir, Gupta concluded, “Pakistan’s repeated attempts to mislead the world will fail, just as they have in the past. Jammu and Kashmir is, and will always remain, an integral part of India.”
