NEW DELHI, FEB 18: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday participated in a high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to review the implementation of the New Criminal Laws enacted by Parliament in July 2024.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the meeting was part of the ongoing review sessions with States and Union Territories to assess the enforcement of the legal changes.
CM Omar Abdullah highlighted that discussions focused on modernization of law enforcement, expediting justice, and ensuring a victim-centric approach.
“Today, it was Jammu & Kashmir’s turn to review the implementation of the new criminal laws. I am pleased to report that on this front, Jammu and Kashmir has performed well,” he stated.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for public awareness and said the government would undertake extensive outreach programs through schools, colleges, universities, and social-political forums to ensure that citizens, especially the youth, are well-informed about their rights, responsibilities, and the impact of the legal changes.
