AMRITSAR, FEB 14: In a major crackdown on cross-border drug smuggling, the Amritsar Rural Police have busted a smuggling network, recovering 30 kg of heroin and arresting one key accused. The operation, based on intelligence inputs, also led to the seizure of a car used in the smuggling activities.
According to Punjab Police, the arrested smuggler was involved in large-scale heroin trafficking and had recently received a significant consignment transported via drones from Pakistan. Authorities suspect a well-organized network operating across the border, utilizing advanced methods to smuggle narcotics.
An FIR under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gharinda Police Station. Officials stated that investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals linked to the racket and trace the origins of the smuggling network.
